THE CLICHE II
She could barely concentrate, everything she tried to do got her thinking about her phone conversation with Chike earlier today. Oh! How she had missed him! The way his voice rippled with so much love, when he called her Teni. She nearly burnt Tola's toast today, because she was lost in her thoughts on Chike . He wanted to meet, but she knew Kunle would never let it.
Funny how he jumped from one open leg to another, without a thought for how she felt ,but would almost burn into ashes with fury if another man as much as smiled at her. So she wouldn't tell him then, after all it wasn't like she was cheating or anything, Chike was an old friend whom she no longer had feelings for or so she told herself , just to allow her sleep better at night cos deep down she knew she'd always love him.
Teniola! She cautioned herself, "get ahold of your emotions, he could be married for God sakes" . Even though she rebuked herself and tried to take her mind of him, all she saw was Thursday when they would meet for lunch, and maybe just maybe by that meeting she'd feel a little more like a woman. As long as Kunle never knew Chike was in town or that they hung out, she was safe . But there was a problem, Kunle knew her routine daily and it had been the same for the past 8 years.
She woke up at 5:30am ,said a little prayer and ran off to the kitchen to make breakfast and heat some water for the kids bath and Kunle's too. After which she woke the kids up and got them ready for school and while they are eating breakfast she packs their lunch bags and Kunle's breakfast too, cos apparently the kids made too much noise at the table so he refused to have little or nothing to do with them. After Kunle leaves, she drops the kids off at school, picks up groceries and heads back home to cook, clean and do a bit of laundry before it's 2:00pm and she has to pick the kids up from school and help them with homework, make lunch and take some to the office for Kunle, gets back home and start making dinner and you know the rest. So where would she find time to have lunch with Chike without Kunle getting all suspicious, because somehow though he never called to check up on herself and the kids, he had a way of knowing if she deviated from her daily routine. Most times she felt like she was being followed.
Oh God! She was having a headache already with all this thinking. "Mummy" called Nike her eldest daughter " my teacher says there would be no school on Thursday and Friday, because of the Muslim celebrations "
What better news could there be?
To be continued......
