Harobed TALES

  The hooded figure killed off the car lights and its engine while squinting in the dark, struggling to see what was in front ahead. With their trembling hand held on the gear firmly in neutral, the figure let the car continue to slowly roll down the hill in silence.  Now the car wasn’t making any sound and there was no light to draw any attention from the distance so the figure was free to work uninterrupted but who would hear a car in that thick of the night and so far from the city? “One cannot be too careful,” the figure thought. The voices the figure heard was the wind whispering things the figure was uninterested in.  Finally getting to the destination at the foot of the hill, the figure pressed the brakes and brought the car to a complete stop then as an after-thought, the figure started the car and reversed the car to make it face the direction it was coming from... ready to go. EPISODE 1   I was confused, why did I feel so much pain? Pain so much, that sleep eluded me. I tossed and turned carefully for fear of moving too fast, as the pain wasn’t one that liked to be rushed. I picked up my phone, it was just 2am. Who would I call? I had no friends around and anywhere for that matter, I was a unique loner. Oh wait! I had one but she lived miles and miles away from me. Even if I did call her, it was 2am she would be asleep and probably not hear it ring but even if she did, would I let her leave the safety of her home and sojourn on this dangerous lonely journey in the dead of night by herself? ‘A TALE BY JIMMY ARNIS’ It was common knowledge that Chief was rotten. In fact, not so much common knowledge as a deep rock steady belief that he was a nefarious incarnate. Jokes even flew around that he should have been cast as Gru in the cartoon Despicable Me, except while the cartoon was okay for a five year old, Chief's activities would corrupt a man way into his thirties.   Suffice to say that if Gru was the Disney definition of the word despicable, then Chief was all the dictionary definitions. And trust me when I say those are not pretty.   But as Terry Goodkind rightly said, 'People are stupid’, and when you do come to think about it, yes! They are. It is common knowledge that smoking kills and alcohol is a menace, yet we have a large percentage of people who liberally engage in that stuff ,without a scintilla of thought for the outcome.
